Chilli Powder Grade 1

Product Description

Grade 1 chilli powder: 180 ASTA color with adjustable heat

Chilli Powder Grade 1 carries more color than the other grades in our chilli powder range: 180 ASTA, against 140 ASTA for grades 2, 3 and 4. It is milled to 70 mesh. The grade fixes the color, not the heat. Pungency is set between 2,000 and 40,000 SHU, or to a custom target, when you place the order.

Buyers usually pick this grade when the chili powder has to give a finished product both a clear red color and a measured level of heat.

Where grade 1 chili powder is used

Seasoning houses use 180 ASTA chili powder in dry rubs, taco and barbecue blends and snack seasonings, where the red of the powder shows in the finished product. Sauce and marinade makers use it when color and heat both come from one ingredient. Because the color is higher than a 140 ASTA grade, a recipe can often reach the same red with a lower inclusion rate; test this in your own formula with a sample.

MOQ, lead time and samples

MOQ is 5 tons, and stock items have no MOQ. Lead time is about 1 week after order confirmation. A free 200 g sample is available so you can check color and heat in your recipe; freight is paid by the buyer.

FAQs

How is grade 1 different from chilli powder grades 2–4?

Grade 1 is listed at 180 ASTA. Grades 2, 3 and 4 are listed at 140 ASTA. All four are 70 mesh, with heat from 2,000 to 40,000 SHU or customized.

Can I choose the heat level of grade 1 chili powder?

Yes. Give us a target SHU between 2,000 and 40,000, or your own range. Where a contract requires it, pungency is tested as capsaicinoid content by HPLC (AOAC 995.03).

Does this chili powder contain added color?

No. The specification is 100% chili with no additive and no Sudan Red, and Salmonella must test negative.

How much grade 1 chilli powder fits in one container?

About 25 t per container, packed in 20 kg or 25 kg kraft bags with a PP liner.
