Paprika Powder Supplier: Bulk ASTA Paprika from Jiaozhou, China

ChangFengAgro (昌丰茂农) supplies bulk sweet paprika powder in listed color grades from 60 to 220 ASTA, milled to 60–80 mesh with pungency below 500 SHU. We ship from Jiaozhou, Qingdao, to food manufacturers, spice importers and private-label brands. Each paprika powder order is made to the color, heat and mesh targets the buyer agrees with us.

Paprika products we supply

Sweet paprika powder is our main paprika line. The standard grades are 60, 80, 100, 120, 140, 160, 180, 200 and 220 ASTA. Buyers who need a strong red at a low dose, such as sausage makers or snack-seasoning houses, usually choose high color paprika at 180–220 ASTA. The 60–120 ASTA grades suit blends where paprika adds flavor as much as color. Higher ASTA targets can be discussed; availability is confirmed on inquiry.

We also produce:

  • Smoked paprika powder in 120, 160 and 220 ASTA, 60–80 mesh.
  • Crushed paprika, with or without seeds, 8–12 mesh or a custom cut, 160 ASTA.
  • Paprika flakes, with or without seeds, 3–5 mm or 9 mm, 160 ASTA.
  • Whole paprika pods with stem, 14 cm and up, below 350 SHU.
  • Paprika chopped as flakes, granules, powder or slices.
  • By-products and extracts: paprika pellets, paprika seeds, paprika seeds powder, paprika spent, spent powder (30 mesh) and paprika oleoresin.

How do I choose a paprika powder ASTA grade for food manufacturing?

Start with the color you need in the finished product, then confirm heat and mesh in the same RFQ. ASTA is a color measure (spectrophotometric method ASTA 20.1 on our specs), not a heat measure. Our sweet paprika powder stays below 500 SHU, so grade choice is mainly about red intensity and dose, not pungency.

Ask for ASTA in the RFQ. State a target band (for example 120–140 or 180–200 ASTA) and the tolerance you can accept. We list sweet paprika powder in 60, 80, 100, 120, 140, 160, 180, 200 and 220 ASTA. Smoked paprika is listed at 120, 160 and 220 ASTA. Crushed paprika and paprika flakes are listed at 160 ASTA.

Color vs heat. If you need strong red at a low dose (sausage, snack coating, meat seasoning), buyers often look at the higher listed color grades (180–220 ASTA). If paprika is there for flavor as much as color in a blend, the mid and lower listed grades (60–120 ASTA) are commonly used. Keep SHU separate: tell us if you need sweet paprika (below 500 SHU) or a smoked line.

Confirm in the quotation. Mesh is listed as 60–80 mesh for sweet and smoked paprika powder (the 60 ASTA grade is also offered at 60 or 70 mesh or a custom mesh). Custom ASTA or SHU targets can be discussed; feasibility and the exact grade are confirmed in your quotation. Browse paprika products or request a quote with your ASTA band, mesh and application.

What paprika powder mesh size (60 / 80) works for seasoning blends?

For dry seasoning blends, sweet and smoked paprika powder from ChangFengAgro is milled to 60–80 mesh. That particle range is what we list for bulk paprika powder used in seasonings, marinades, sauces, snack coatings and meat products.

The 60 ASTA grade is also offered at 60 or 70 mesh, or a custom mesh, when a buyer needs a narrower cut. Other sweet paprika color grades on our list (80, 100, 120, 140, 160, 180, 200, 220 ASTA) follow the standard 60–80 mesh milling unless a custom mesh is agreed.

In an RFQ, state both ASTA (color) and mesh together so the quotation matches your blender or sachet line. Custom mesh is confirmed in your quotation. See paprika specifications or the existing FAQ answer on mesh sizes for paprika and garlic powder.

Where our paprika is used

Wholesale paprika from our lines goes into dry seasonings, marinades, sauces, snack coatings and meat products. Seasoning houses often ask for sweet paprika powder in a narrow ASTA band so the finished color stays the same from batch to batch. Meat processors look for high color and low heat. Crushed paprika and flakes add visible red particles to rubs, pizza toppings and ready meals. Smoked paprika adds a smoky note to barbecue blends and sauces. Paprika oleoresin is a liquid color extract, and paprika spent and pellets are by-products for buyers who process them further.

Quality and testing

How is paprika color measured and what testing documents can buyers request?

Paprika color is measured using the ASTA 20.1 spectrophotometric method, and the on-site laboratory also checks moisture and physical quality. A batch Certificate of Analysis and pesticide-residue documentation can be supplied, with third-party laboratory reports available on request. Certificate copies (ISO, HACCP and others) are confirmed on inquiry.

A traceability system follows each lot from raw material to finished bag, with inspections at every stage. Where a contract calls for it, pungency is tested as capsaicinoid content by HPLC (AOAC 995.03). Our specification sheets are written against EU standards and require no added color, no Sudan Red and negative Salmonella. Pesticide limits are checked against the EU or US FDA requirements of the destination market before production starts.

Packing and container loading

How is bulk paprika powder packed and loaded?

Bulk paprika powder is packed in 20 kg or 25 kg kraft paper bags with a PP liner, or in 25 kg paper bags. Cartons and PP bags are also available, and OEM or private-label packing can be arranged. Paprika powder loads about 25 t per container; this figure does not describe every paprika form.

Whole pods go in cartons, jute bags or compressed woven bags. Pellets, seeds and spent go in 25 kg woven bags. Tonnage for whole pods, flakes, pellets, seeds and spent depends on the product and bag size, so we confirm it in your quotation.
