Chilli powder grade 2: 140 ASTA at 70 mesh
Grade 2 is our 140 ASTA chilli powder, milled to 70 mesh with moisture held at 10% max. The heat is not fixed by the grade: you set it anywhere from 2,000 to 40,000 SHU, or give us your own target.
That combination, a solid red with a heat level chosen per order, makes grade 2 a practical base chilli powder for seasoning blends that are sold in mild, medium and hot versions.
Grades 2, 3 and 4 are all available. The figures on this page are for grade 2; tell us which grade you need, and its specification is confirmed in your quotation.

Building heat levels on one base
Blenders who sell the same seasoning at several heat levels can order grade 2 at different SHU targets and keep the color steady across the range. It is used in chili seasonings, curry and stew mixes, hot sauces and instant-noodle powders. Where a stronger red is needed, grade 1 chilli powder is listed at 180 ASTA.
MOQ, lead time and samples
MOQ is 5 tons, and stock items have no MOQ. Lead time is about 1 week after order confirmation. A free 200 g sample can be sent at the heat level you are considering; the buyer pays the freight.

How do I choose the heat?
Give us a target between 2,000 and 40,000 SHU, or your own range. Pungency can be tested by HPLC (AOAC 995.03) when your contract requires it.
How is grade 2 different from grade 1?
Grade 1 is listed at 180 ASTA; grade 2 at 140 ASTA. Both are 70 mesh with the same heat range.
